Alice Guthrie

Alice Guthrie studied Arabic at Exeter University and IFEAD (now IFPO) in Damascus, graduating in 2008. Since then her translations of Arab authors have been published by Comma, Saqi, World Literature Today and others, as well as in a broad range of online and print media. She is currently Translator in Residence at Free Word Centre, London, where she has been devising and delivering translation workshops for schools and community groups in London and Bristol. Current translation projects include literature by contemporary Syrian writers such as Rasha Abbas and Zaher Omareen, and a series of historical documents from Egypt.
