Professor Ed Watkins
is Professor of Experimental and Applied Clinical Psychology at the University of Exeter, co-founder of the Mood Disorders Centre, and director of SMART (Study of Maladaptive to Adaptive Repetitive Thought) Lab. He is a chartered clinical psychologist specialising in cognitive-behavioural therapy and psychological research to improve treatments for depression. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed scientific papers, funded by the Medical Research Council, Wellcome Trust, and European Commission. He was awarded the British Psychological Society’s May Davidson Award 2004 for outstanding early-career contribution to the development of clinical psychology, and is a member of the current NICE Guideline Group for depression.
