From Real to Unreal and Back - Bare Lit Festival

A panel discussing how fiction can use fantastical elements to talk about the real world. This event will explore how the authors create these elements for their work, and also how they envisage their readers translating the fantastical back into their own realities. Featuring Ali Bader who wrote the story 'The Corporal' for the Iraq + 100 collection.

Ali Bader was born in Baghdad, and now lives in Brussels. He has published thirteen novels, several works of non-fiction, film scripts, plays as well as two collections of poetry. He also worked as a war correspondent covering the Middle East. His best-known novels include Papa Sartre, The Tobacco Keeper, Running After Wolves, and The Sinful Woman.
