Comma is Recruiting: Engagement Manager

ENGAGEMENT MANAGER, COMMA PRESS

MANCHESTER'S COMMA PRESS IS NOW RECRUITING FOR THE POST OF ENGAGEMENT MANAGER.

This position will combine marketing and audience development responsibilities with production and editorial work, and represents a rare opportunity to be part of a groundbreaking publishing project.

The internationally acclaimed publishing house, Comma Press is seeking a dynamic, resourceful and highly motivated Engagement Manager to join its small, award-winning team.

This is a unique opportunity to become a key member of a young but highly acclaimed publishing house (see www.commapress.co.uk) in its busy Northern Quarter office. The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for the development of audiences, and sales and marketing, but will also play a vital role in the editorial production process, and will be allowed to develop a number of editorial projects of their own, within their first two years with the press.

The successful applicant’s key qualities will include efficiency, creativity, spoken and written communication skills, IT skills, digital and social media awareness, an appreciation of all types of short fiction and fiction in translation and, most importantly, an understanding of what Comma does, and why it does it. The Engagement Manager will be educated to degree level or equivalent.

Comma has recently broadened the number of digital platforms it uses to reach audiences, doubling the number of devices its eBooks are available on, and launching two new smartphone apps (and currently developing more). The Engagement Manager will be tasked with furthering this digital development, as well as maintaining Comma's on-going rise in hardcopy sales and event attendances. The successful candidate will also be given the space to develop his/her own projects, as part of Comma's extremely hard-working, but cooperative and task-sharing structure.

Starting Salary: £16-18k, depending on experience.

The deadline for applications is 12noon on 1 July 2014. Interviews will be held on 7 July 2014.
