Comma Press raises £155 for MSF at Jebel Marra launch

Last Friday evening, more than 50 people gathered at the International Anthony Burgess Foundation to celebrate the launch of Michelle Green's new short story collection, Jebel Marra. Inspired by her experiences working for an international NGO in Darfur in 2004-2005, Michelle's subtly interlinked stories are told from 15 disparate perspectives; from janjaweed to government lawyer, aid worker to local teacher, foreign journalist to local businesswomen. Michelle read the story 'The Rig' to a rapt audience, following on from Darfur-inspired poems from renowned poet, musician and performer, Rosie Garland, who has also spent time in the same area.

We gave 50% of the proceeds raised from selling Jebel Marra on launch night to Medecins Sans Frontieres- a charity supported by Michelle because of their transparency and their ' brutal honesty about where their money is spent'. The total donation to MSF came to £155. Thank you, Michelle fans!
