MacGuffin shortlisted for the FutureBook Awards

MacGuffin has been shortlisted in the Bookseller's prestigious FutureBook Awards, which recognise companies and individuals who are playing a key role in driving the publishing industry forwards.

It's nominated in the new 'Platforms' category, alongside ventures from HarperCollins, Pelican, and Faber, amongst others. The winner will be announced at the FutureBook Conference on December 4th.

MacGuffin is Comma Press' digital platform for fiction, poetry and essays in text and audio form. Writers upload a reading along with their text; end-users can read the text or stream the audio. It has a tagging system to help readers discover and share new work, and open analytics that make anonymised data available to all users.

MacGuffin is available as a website and an app for iPhone and Android. It's free to use, and features lots of exclusive stories and poems by authors published by Comma Press, Bloodaxe, Valley Press, Peepal Tree and more. If you're a writer, you can upload and share your own stories and poetry - just upload an mp3 audio file of your reading along with the text.

The FutureBook Platform Award is
sponsored by Firebrand Technologies and NetGalley.
MacGuffin is an R&D collaboration between Comma Press, fffunction, and The Manchester Metropolitan University. It's supported by the Digital R&D Fund for the Arts.
