A Tokyo Romance at Cheltenham Literature Festival

13 Oct 2018 - 6.30PM - 9.99

When the now-editor of The New York Review of Books Ian Buruma (A Tokyo Romance) arrived in Tokyo as a young film student in 1975, he found a feverish and surreal metropolis that would be the formative experience of his adult life. Osaka-born translator Asa Yoneda spent a decade in Tokyo and brought this experience to The Book of Tokyo: A City in Short Fiction (Comma Press) featuring Banana Yoshimoto, Hiromi Kawakami and Hitomi Kanehara. With Georgina Godwin they discuss Japan’s intoxicating capital.
