Charles Sabatos

Charles Sabatos is a US-born professor at Yeditepe University in Istanbul, where he lectures on American, Slavic, and comparative literature. His research focuses on transnational contexts of Central European (particularly Slovak and Czech) literary history. He is the author of the monograph Frontier Orientalism and The Turkish Image in Central European Literature (Lexington Books, 2020) and co-editor of the volume Home and the World in Slovak Writing: A Small Nation’s Literature in Context (2025). He has translated texts by such Slovak authors as Pavel Vilikovský, Ján Uličiansky, Dominik Tatarka, and Svetlana Žuchová.
