Igor Hochel

Igor Hochel (1953) is a writer, literature scholar and translator from Bulgarian into Slovak. He taught history of Slovak literature at the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra and history of Bulgarian literature at Comenius University in Bratislava. He has served as editor and editor-in chief of Romboid, a journal of literary criticism, and is the author of two volumes of literary criticism and co-author of several more. He was the editor of the bilingual Slovak English anthology Six Slovak Poets (2010, trans. John Minahane) and has published several collection of poetry and the collection of short stories Muchy (v treťom roku okupácie) (Flies [in the third year under occupation] 2013), in which he returned to the period following the Soviet-led invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968.
