Dr Jude Bloomfield is an independent researcher and writer on urban cultures, planning and citizenship, a translator and poet. She specialises in intercultural planning and urban imaginaries. Recent publications include Planning for the Intercultural City, (with F. Bianchini, Comedia, 2004) and ‘Researching the Urban Imaginary: resisting the erasure of places in Weiss-Sussex’ in Urban Mindscapes of Europe (Weiss-Sussex G. and F. Bianchini eds, Rodopi, 2007). A book based on life histories and narratives, Intercultural Innovators: Learning from Life Stories (Comedia), is in preparation. She is currently collaborator, in the artists’ group – We Sell Boxes We Buy Gold – on interventions in the Olympic zone of east London. Her long poem, ‘Reclamations’, drawing on walks, narratives and memories of the Lower Lea Valley was performed in Hackney Museum in December 2007 and will be published in 2009.
