Lisa Blower went to Sheffield Hallam University (BA Hons) and the University of Manchester (MA Novel Writing). She worked for over a decade in commercial radio – Kiss, Galaxy, Kerrang – in marketing and events before returning full time to academia and becoming a writer in 2006. Lisa has a PhD in Creative and Critical Writing from the University of Bangor, where she taught Creative Writing until the birth of her daughter in 2012. Her story ‘Broken Crockery’ won The Guardian’s National Short Story Competition in 2009, was shortlisted for the BBC National Short Story Award in 2013, and has been Highly Commended in this year’s Bridport prize. Her work has appeared in The Guardian, Comma Press, The New Welsh Review, The Luminary, Short Story Sunday, Literary Salmon and on Radio 4. Her debut novel Sitting Ducks is out now with Fair Acre Press. She is working on her first short story collection, It’s Gone Dark Over Bill’s Mother’s.
