Salwa Zkazak is based in Damascus and writes about the daily life of ordinary people. Her first collection of short stories, The Colourful Woman was published by Dar Al-Shumus in 2001. Her second, What Remains of Life was published by Dar Al-Muwatinah in Beirut in 2016. Her third, The Day I Wore My Aunt’s Strange Face was published by Dar Atar in 2019. She has also contributed to six other anthologies. Her stories are known for their fast-paced style and focus on the details of the city no one pays attention to.
