Hay Festival - Europa28 (Zagreb and Rijeka)

6 Oct 2020

6-9th October

Hay Festival Europa28

The festival will run October 6-9th, in Zagreb and Rijeka, with face-to-face events and the opportunity to enjoy the festival digitally. Do not miss the chance to hear from our Europa28 women writers, artists, scientists and entrepreneurs!

28 women writers and artists – one from each EU country – present their visions for the future in live and online sessions during Hay Festival Europa28 this October in Rijeka, Croatia.

Run in partnership with the European Short Story Festival, Rijeka University and the European Capital of Culture Rijeka 2020, the Festival will feature panel discussions, readings and performances throughout Rijeka; workshops and events in local schools, libraries and the university; and a series of digital discussions streamed globally.

Blending award-winning writers, scientists, performers and artists, participants include novelists Leïla Slimani (France) and Janne Teller (Denmark), travel writer Kapka Kassabova (Bulgaria), poet Asja Bakic (Croatia), actress Lisa Dwan (Ireland), and sociologist Renata Salecl (Slovenia). Each will showcase their work in readings, workshops, performances and debates throughout the city, while the Croatian edition of the anthology, Hay Festival Europa28: Visions for the Future (Fraktura), will be launched.

Hay Festival Europa28 is run in partnership with the WOMARTS project, co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme to pursue women’s equal share presence in the Arts.
