He Used to do Dangerous Things: Launch Event

About the event
Join us at The Book Corner for the launch of poet & writer Gaia Holmes’ new collection of short stories, He Used To Do Dangerous Things. Gaia will be in conversation with our founder and Publisher Ra Page. There will be a reading and discussion, followed by audience Q&A and book signing.
The characters in He Used To Do Dangerous Things adopt complex and ingenious mechanisms for processing a world that is at once too close and too far removed, needing to feel the presence of others, whilst also being overwhelmed by it. Bringing with her the open-hearted lyricism, intense textures and inherent strangeness that set her poetry apart, Holmes arrives at the short story as the finished article: a master chronicler of 21st century Britain.
GAIA HOLMES is the author of three poetry collections, Dr James Graham’s Celestial Bed, Lifting The Piano With One Hand and Where The Road Runs out (Comma Press). She has been a gallery attendant, a cleaner, a lecturer, a lollypop lady and a busker and has lived in churches, caves, deserted beach houses, tall terraces and caravans.
RA PAGE is the CEO and Founder of Comma Press. He has been recognised by the h100 Awards for the last two years running (2019/2020) for his contribution to the Publishing & Writing industry in the UK, and was included in The Bookseller 150 list in 2020.
This event is free but tickets need to be reserved via eventbrite.
