Refugee Tales featured on BBC Radio 4's Ramblings with Clare Balding

We were excited to hear Clare Balding’s walk-and-talk with a group of asylum seekers and refugees, participating in the Refugee Tales project, on Ramblings on BBC Radio 4. Conversations about the power of walking, story-telling, and the inspiring project unfold over the hills of Reigate in Surrey.

Refugee Tales is an initiative of the Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group which organises walks to campaign against indefinite immigration detention and show solidarity with asylum seekers and refugees. Working with the charity, we published the Refugee Tales and Refugee Tales II short story collections where the stories of people who have suffered at the hands of indefinite immigration detention are retold in Chaucerian style. The collections feature the likes of Jackie Kay, Kamila Shamsie, Neel Mukherjee, and many other fabulous writers.

Visit the Refugee Tales website for more information or to join their next walk, and be sure to tune in on BBC Radio iPlayer to hear the Ramblings episode in full.
