Andri Snær Magnason (b. 1973) has won the Icelandic Literary Prize in every category; fiction, children’s fiction and non-fiction. Magnason also writes poetry, plays, short stories and essays. He has been awarded the French Grand Prix de l’Imaginaire, the West Nordic Literature Prize and The Kairos Prize. In 2009, he co-directed the documentary Dreamland, which was based on his book Dreamland: A Self-Help Manual for a Frightened Nation. His most recent work, On Time and Water, was nominated for the Nordic Council Literature Prize 2021. His books have been translated into almost 40 languages. Magnason ran for president of Iceland in 2016 and came third out of nine candidates.
