Ding Liying

Born in 1966 in Shanghai, Ding Liying is one of a new generation of Chinese women writers. Acclaimed for her carefully crafted portraits of ordinary urban women, she is an essayist and poet, as well as a short story writer, and has recently translated the poetry of Elizabeth Bishop. She was awarded the Anne Kao Poetry Prize in 1999.
