Eduardo Angel Santiesteban

Eduardo Angel Santiesteban was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1997. He is currently studying at the University Obrero Campesina. At the age of just 16, he was invited to take part in the prestigious fiction course run by the Jorge Onelio Cardoso Centre of Literary Formation. He was also awarded the “creation bursary” El caballo de coral, for his ‘novel in progress’ which he is currently developing. He is part of a generation of very young writers known as the “children of the Special Period” (the decade 1990-2000 when the economic crisis, due especially to the fall of the Soviet Union, hit Cuba hard) - young authors who have just begun to appear on the literary scene and depict a very different Cuba from that described by older generations.
