Þórarinn Eldjárn (b. 1949) has published numerous collections of poetry and children’s verse, short story collections and novels and translated fiction for adults and children, including works by Strindberg, Göran Tunström and Lewis Carroll as well as Shakespere’s King Lear, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Hamlet for the Icelandic National Theatre. Eldjarn is the recipient of many awards. His novel The Blue Tower was shortlisted for the Aristeion – the European literature and translation prize, nominated for the Nordic Council Literature Prize and for the IMPAC Dublin Award. His work has been translated into fourteen languages and two of his novels have been adapted to screen. thorarinn.eldjarn.is
