Job description:This is a 8 week GradMatch Internship
The Production and Marketing Assistant intern role will comprise of two main strands, as indicated in the job title.
The intern will work closely with the Engagement Manager to plan and deliver tailored marketing strategies for new titles in 2015:
- carry out market research to identify audiences for each title
- create and distribute marketing materials
- use social media, WordPress, MailChimp and other online platforms to engage with our audiences
-plan, promote and deliver public events such as book launches, literary festival, appearances, seminars, and an annual creative writing graduate fair.
- website management
The intern will work with the Editor of each title to prepare books for publication and distribution
- proof read manuscripts
- convert and upload eBooks
- audio book editing
- app content management

The Intern will receive the following training
All training will be given in-house and the intern will have the full support of the Comma team at every stage. Activities will be monitored and constructive feedback given.
The intern will:
- be shown how to create blog posts, newsletters, webpages, etc, and will be encouraged to take responsibility for our social media activity and all online campaigns
- be shown previous marketing materials and strategies and will be asked to create new press releases etc
- be instructed in basic proof reading for book publishing
- be instructed in the conversion and uploading of eBook files across four formats.

Person requirements
Graduates from Marketing degrees, English & Humanities degrees are encouraged to apply, but it is open to everyone!

Essential Skills
1. A passion for literature and interest in short fiction, in particular.
2. Well-developed communication skills, an ability to work as a team, and the resourcefulness to research and develop solutions unassisted.
3. High level of proficiency with the English language- must be able to spot spelling and grammar errors in manuscripts.
4. Focus and attention to detail - to proof read manuscripts requires the ability to concentrate on fine detail for extended periods of time.
5. A working knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, Pinterest, Vine, etc.
6. A working knowledge of all basic Microsoft Office packages.

Desirable Skills
1. Familiarity with WordPress and MailChimp.
2. Marketing knowledge and/or experience.
3. An understanding of digital developments in the field of publishing.
4. Proof reading skills.
5. Familiarity with basic HTML (or web mark-up languages)
